Frequently asked Questions
Absolutely – Emma is the only dog walker at The Shires. We are a small, locally run business. A Meet & Greet is held for ALL new clients, for us to discuss your requirements, and for clients to find out more about how we operate. Emma will come to your home.
Yes! It is really important that pet professionals are insured. I am insured with Protectivity. We will discuss this in more detail at a Meet & Greet.
We work 7 days a week – but notice is preferred where possible for evenings and weekends
We believe dogs have more fun if they can play and interact with other dogs. Our walks are limited to a maximum of 6 dogs, as stipulated by the council, and our insurance company. Groups are carefully selected with breed, age, sex and personality in mind.
The Shires doesn’t currently home board dogs, but we do offer dog sitting in the comfort of your own home. If, like us, you know that kennels wouldn’t be the right fit for your little ones, pet sitting allows for a complete home experience, where their routine remains the same. Plus, your home will be occupied, providing security whilst you’re away.
If you prefer to home board dogs, please be aware that anyone offering home boarding MUST be licensed by the council, and the criteria for a license is very strict. Always ask for evidence that they’re insured and fully licensed. Boarding dogs in your home without a license is a criminal offence.
Of course! If we are able to help, we will. Solo walks are available, give us a call and we can see if we can help.
